La Fundación por la Justicia (FxJ) is an an independent NGO that focuses on on the promotion and protection of human rights both in Spain and in some of the most disadvantaged parts of the world such as Asia, Africa and Latin America.
In collaboration with various organisations including universities and legal bodies as well as UKRAID, La Fundación por la Justicia is working to collected and collate the testimonies of Ukrainian refugees in Spain with the goal of eventually securing reparations for their losses. What constitutes ‘damages’ includes material damage such as the destruction of property including homes and cars, as well as emotional damage from being forced to live as a refugee in another country.
At the end of February and beginning of March 2024, presentations of the organisation and their project were presented to groups of Ukrainians through a translator at the Ukrainian Refugee Centre of Valencia. Ukrainians had the opportunity to learn more about the process, ask any questions and to arrange an appointment to give their testimony.
UKRAID is proud to be able to collaborate on such an important project that gives Ukrainian refugees the chance to formally record their losses on the record for future legal proceedings. It empowers them to have their story heard, recorded and to be part of a larger and louder voice in the demand for justice.
