Launching the UKRAID Women’s Support Network

Launching the UKRAID Women’s Support Network

On Friday 12th April, the first meeting of the UKRAID Women’s Support Network will take place at UKRAID to provide female refugees with the opportunity to gather together, share their experiences and support eachother.

Each meeting will be led by a qualified psychologist who will provide guidance and structure to the sessions which will involve around 10 participants. The women will be able to share what they have gone through during the war and now as refugees; the challenges of being separated from loved ones as well as integration into a new culture and language will be some of the topics discussed.

The UKRAID Women’s Support Network will gather weekly with different participants with the goal of forging new social support networks among Ukrainian female refugees. Women make up the majority of refugees (over 60%) and often carry the burden of being separated from their partner, being a caregiver to children and elderly relatives while being without their social support network from back in Ukraine.

We hope that the UKRAID Women’s Support Network will serve as a valuable source of support and inspiration for the users of our centre.
